My Life

I am bad at blogging anymore...not sure why...maybe because my life isn't much to blog about! But my new goal is to post something each month. That way I can see the progress happening in my life!!!

I'm out of work---like most Americans. Finding a job isn't easy. So I get to stay home, and babysit when needed. Which is great for me on one hand but maybe I should just find a crap shop and go do hair. Really most shops I have talked to are either not interested in me because I don't have clients or they are just full. I don't want to go to Great Clips or shops like that. If you are in shops like that they are more worried about getting that client out in a short amount of time and not about good hair. I want to do hair and I want to be able to do it on my terms. SO--the waiting game is on. Or I would work in a beauty supply store...still waiting on a job opening there too!

Don is working hard on school. He is trying to make the nursing program next January. Praying that he can get in and work hard---our hope is that he gets his nursing done quickly so we can move on with our lives. He is such a great sport with going back to school!

With being shut in most of the time and Don doing school...he has decided that in October he wants to WALK a 5k. I'm going to be helping him get ready for this...but we will see if I am up to doing it with him. (But if any of you would like to do it...please let us know...babysitting will be provided.) He is a trooper with his goals lately...he decided that he wouldn't drink anymore soda so January 1st he stopped drinking them and has done VERY well. So I know that once he decides something for sure he will stick with it! (I only gave up caffeine---and works most days but when a migraine headache comes on I need to have something!)

I just got a laptop from Don this week and I am enjoying it! Once I get everything on here that I need I will be able to do my calling at church (Primary Choristers) and when Don needs it for classes he has it to go! So I think it will help us do all of our work better. As for my calling in church...I'm not sure about it...I don't know that I do good working in Primary, but since I wont teach class back there---I got this. I'm sure I'll learn something from it but I'm not sure what can be learned in that calling!

Well that is all that is going on in our world! I promise to post more often and Have better things to share! Have a great week!

The Slacker I really am!

Okay...I was out looking at Jackie's blog and now I really feel bad. It's been forever. I'm going to try to do better! In the last 6 months my world turned upside down and was shaken a little. With the passing of my grandfather, moving back to Indiana, having Don go back to school with not job, and now with me not having an income either has really been eye opening. I know that things will be okay in the end...but getting through the tough road is the challenge.

Don is just about half way through his first semester. I'm not sure he really likes school but knows it's what needs to be done to have us on our feet again. He is really trying to keep up a good front for me!

I was hoping by now I would have a job with my old employer but that doesn't seem to be what's going to happen. Annette got hired to manage a Hickory Farm booth in Kokomo at one of the malls...She has hired me to help her out...so for 5 to 6 weeks I'll have some kind of income.

If that isn't rough enough...not having health insurance is really knocking at our door...Don can't seem to stay well. He has NEVER been this sick our whole marriage...and now it's one thing after another. I pray that the small amount of money I have set aside will do but I'm feeling the bite!

As for our marriage...November 27th is our 10th Anniversary. I'm shocked he has stayed married to me that long. YES--I do know that I'm not easy to live with...and very bossy...so VERY shocked he stayed with me!

The last week we have had the joy of helping out Ronna and Jeff. Ronna has had family issues she had to go take care of ... so we got to take care of the boys and I have to say...Not always joys but joyful that we could do it! I love them so much. But with being "home" we have gotten to take care of a lot of the little ones! I totally enjoy doing that.

I know this has been a lot of nothing...but I thought I would post it anyways! I will post again soon!

Just my thoughts...so I can stop thinking...

Have you ever had the feeling that doing good things for others never pays? Or that if you do a kind deed all you get is a kick in the teeth? Lately that is how I feel. I talked my husband into doing a HUGE thing for a person (who I thought was my friend)...and it has totally came back and kicked me in the butt.

I don't really want to go into detail but I now feel since we had to end doing that deed (do to things out of our control) I am now paying for it. It sucks that people aren't what they seem! Totally stabbing you in the back and speak sweetly to your face. I just trust that karma makes it right!

Other than that things are going...not wonderful but going. Making plans for Don's schooling.

Can't wait until my true friend Kelly can make it down here! I'm so dang excited to see her. She makes things clearer for me. I'm glad we are friends! Her crew is coming the first week of April. And than my mom comes the second weekend of May. And I'm SO excited for her to be here. She too makes things clearer for me. Makes me feel like everything will work out the way they should.

Sorry that is wasn't great....but I have to have an outlet for my brain before it explodes. I get a three day weekend...So hopefully I can just chill and make things calm down in my life to make it until my mom gets here!

If we do anything great and wonderful I'll update by Sunday night! Enjoy your weekend and make sure you have fun!

Just to Let you know we are still here...

I thought I better write before you thought we fell off the face of the earth...well...we didn't. Just seems most days there isn't much to say except that I have NO life. Well that hasn't changed at all, but I thought I might catch you up on what is going on...(some of which I cant talk about right now online, and hope you understand).

First and for most...Don has made up his mind that since there isn't a job out there that he is going to look into going back to school. He is still looking for work, but with jobs not out there...he has to do something...so he is looking into nursing school.

I am still working. I love the company I work with, but wishing that there were good workers out there that I could hire! I have been a manager at this store now for 9 months (dang it doesn't seem that long) and I just had my second inventory. But the numbers are totally looking so much better than when I got there. It's not in the ball park yet of the store that opened the week before it did...but we are catching up. We just had the Regional Vice President, Terrory Manager in and they LOVED my store. So with all the "big" things now out of the way for a few more months...I can sort of breath a sigh of relief.

Don and I are really involved with our church. Both of us holding 2 callings. I love mine...I work on the activities committee (with Don)...we have had great comments from EVERYONE how great the ward activities are going. How great they love the new ideas. And my other calling is working with the Young Women as their Personal Progress leader (which is the same calling Stephanie has in her ward). I have leard a lot so much in the short time I have been doing this new calling. I grew up in the church and did my personal progress as a youth but seeing these girls do their's and growing...it's so wonderful!

If you have good ideas on activities I can do with the girls please share. They are really want to do a sleep over...so that is what I'm working on right now...how we can do it. We are working on a cookbook for them so that would be a great time for them to really work on it...and anything else the need to work on.

Other than that we are just going one day at a time. I'm hoping all is well with all of you! I'll try to blog soon! Keep in touch...

Just a general update....

First and fore most I need to thank Jackie...for getting the new background done and setting me straight on how to do somethings. You will never know how you saved me!

Okay now for our update...

The last few months have been very busy with my work. Trying to get my store turned around and starting going in the right direction. I think I have started that (which is great news).

At the end of July I tried to chop my left index finger tip off. So I got to go to a clinic and get several stitches and was told I may have problems with the tip having normal feeling. It still feels funny but better then it did. On August 1st my full time employee (really my ONLY employee) quit. So I luckily had hired a girl for another store but she needed trained. So I was working open to close for a good 3 weeks...which made me sick...I got strep throat and a sinus infection. I worked 60+ clocked hours and then worked off the clock because the local managers for my company decided to do 3 open house (one in each store)...so I worked for weeks off the clock on that. The open houses...let us just say... the first one sucked...the second (which was mine) was hurricaned out thanks for Hurricane Fay...and the third was a great hit. But my store seems to be improving---or at least that's what the numbers say!

As for Don...about 4 weeks ago he was again laid off because too many people are going for direct cremations and not having a full funeral service. So we talked about it and he decided to go to truck driving school (he has done it before but let his CDL lapse). But he couldn't pass a urine test. He had too much protein in his samples. So the school sent him home to see his normal doctor. (While to be honest we don't have a "normal" doctor we are between doctors. So I had him go to the walk in clinic/doctor's office I have been going to (which the normal doctor is a heart doctor). He went and come to find out Don has some heart problems. He has been out of school for a couple weeks now and has had a few doctor's appointments. Come to find out...Don's left ventricle is enlarged or thickened, he has high blood pressure, and he has a extra heart beat (yes they found his heart so it's true he does have one...and the nurse practitioner says his wiring is misfiring). They put him on a couple of different heart meds and than sent him for a CAT scan of his kidneys which didn't show anything wrong. So they are saying his extra protein is do to his high blood pressure. The doctor's office is releasing him to go back to school so now we are waiting on the school to call him back so we can see if they will let him go back. But on other news...he has at least one job interview this next week and hopefully more...

Everything else here is fine. We were lucky enough to be missed by ALL the hurricanes...but we are ready if any decide to come visit. We are praying for our friends in the Houston area. They are out of their home right now and we hope to hear from them soon. Please keep all those in your prayers!

Well that is all for my update for now! I hope to be better at updating more often. Have a great week!

Premiere Orlando Hair Show 2008

Last weekend I got the chance to go to the 2nd largest hair show in the country. Don and I planned it out that we would go one day and see what it would be like. The week before I was promoted to a manager in my company. And was given the chance to hang with the other managers the day before and go to a pre-hair show show held by the Wella Company. It was great going to Orlando and setting up some of the booths with my fellow managers...and just getting to know them. Then as a hair dresser it was totally awesome to go to the Pre-Hair Show...show. It was like a huge Las Vegas show. Major Wella people were there...Like the Hair Dresser from the TV show "What Not To Wear" Nick Arrojo. He is SO down to earth and awesome. I took lots of pictures. Then Don drove over to Orlando Sunday morning and we walked the main floor where all the booths were and saw so many things and big names in the hair business. Like co-owner to Paul Mitchell--Angus Mitchell (who I think is easy on the eyes), (Paul Mitchell's main showman) Robert Creamons, Nick Arrojo (which I got my picture take with), and TONS of big wigs from my company. I hope you enjoy my picture...I know there are lots but I was just so dang excited to be there and couldn't seem to take enough! I missed lots of things! It does take more than one day to see and experience everything. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Forgotten trip to Sea World

I thought that I had posted about Sea World, but than I found out it never made the blog. In March Don and I got the chance to go to Orlando for a few different reasons. Samantha called and told me that she was going to be in Orlando for a business trip but would like to do something fun while she was there. She than said something about going to the temple there since she had never seen that one. For me that was all I needed to hear...I was in. Come to find out the youth of our ward was going a temple trip the same day Samantha wanted to go--which worked out REALLY well for Don and myself. We met Samantha at the temple and we did our different things in the temple and from there we headed to our hotels. Shari, Sarah, Lydia, and Aubree decided that they would meet us also in Orlando...they are big Sea World fans so we had planned to skip church on Sunday and go to Sea World (since I have never been). We had a good time and below are a few pictures from that trip. (Sam anytime you are in the area let me know! I am up for just about anything!)

Enjoy and have a great week!

Spring Break 2008

Boy it's been a long time since my last post...sorry! But in the last month I have been stressed out with work and home life. But it's all getting better.

On April 4th my mom came for a quick visit. We didn't do very much this time she was here but we just hung out and just enjoyed the time together! We went to a very small farmers market (Mom next time we will go to the good one!). On Saturday April 5th the Zehrings arrived for spring break. On Sunday I decided to make them all a home cooked meal...chicken breast, home made lemon basil pasta, tomato salad, a regular salad, and a couple different desserts. I think everyone enjoyed the meal...I know I did.

Most of the pictures are from the time with them (some others I took at Busch Gardens in the last month). They spent a lot of time with Don this year...he got the week off. They spent a lot of time on the beach...or in the pool. Lets just say most of them got a little red. But over all I think they had fun. We went to Busch Gardens for our fun activity. There are TONS of pictures from Busch Gardens and I am just warning you there are just tons of pictures...I put the slide show on fast so you can get through it faster. The last day they were here we went Putt-Putt Golfing. I'm not a fan of golf if it's hot and humid (which is was). So that is all I'll say about it. Aleesha found another little girl around her age (Annie). Annie is a very cute little girl and is a mixed child like Aleesha. They were really cute together. So if there is another child that you don't remember ever seening it's Annie. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed the time taking them! We already miss our company.

On to other news: Evie has moved out. She didn't want to live with the arrangement we all sat and came up with. So on Friday when I was at work Don and the sister missionaries helped her move her things into her own apartment. So we are cleaning and getting things ready to clean out our storage unit. And we will be looking into getting our paperwork in and a home study done for adpotion. So we are very excited!

Have a great week and enjoy the pictures!

How many 5 year olds can you fight?

I'm using Aubree just because she is 5 years old...but how many do you think you could fight at once? Click the picture and take the test and they will let you know...I can only take on 25...how sad!

Lots to talk about!

I have lots to talk about...just as the title said. Last week started out great! Don and I got to spend some one on one time with each other at the state fair. We had a great time...we missed watching a calf being born by 40 minutes, but below are the pictures of the mom and her calf (which was a little girl). As you will see in front of the birthing stall there is a dry erease board with all the calves born right before the state fair and at the state fair. We also went to the part of the state fair which was like Conner's Praire (in Indiana). Down below there are pictures of the people squeezing cane for cane syrup.

On Tuesday I went to work and told the woman that I work with that I needed to transfer stores because of the cost of gas is killing me. It takes 2 tanks of gas a week to get Don and I to work and back because we work so far from each other and only have 1 car. So I got everything arranged so I could move to the store that is one mile from his work (until my store is opened --which could be March, April or heck even May). So I will be working out of the St. Pete store for now!

Then the week took a sharp turn for the worse. On Thursday I got a call from work (very early) that I needed to come into work because our store was broken into and I needed to help deal with it. The thief/thieves broke the large piece of glass in our front door (shoving the door way into the door frame) and breaking into a locked desk. They were so dumb that they took a empty lock box. We don't keep money there we have a hidden safe. They didn't take any product or big ticket items...and they were so kind not to mess the shelves up! How sweet of them. So he/she/they were looking for cash. So hopefully the thief gets a lot of money for an empty lock box. The manager of that store was very upset...it didn't bother me like it did her. So I made all the phone calls that we needed to make to home office and to the glass people to get the door fixed. The door is still not right but we were opened by noon because of the non stop work from 7 am until noon to get the store safe and looking good.

And today Don and I have decided how to spend a few bucks of our tax money. We were thinking of getting our year passes to Disney. Which would be nice, but with my schedule it might be hard to get our money out of those tickets this year. So we decided since Danny and Kelly are coming with the kids for spring break and they really want to do Busch Gardens this year (we did Disney last year)...we decided to do our year passes to Busch Gardens and Sea World. I haven't been to either and I thought it would be nice to see something different...not that I don't want our Disney passes (maybe next year). Today after church...we have been trying to spend more time together on days we both have off...we decided to go ahead and head over and get our year passes and kind of scope things out. Part of the park is being redone (but will open by the time Kelly and Danny get here). But Don was so amused at seeing the chimps today because we were standing there and looking at them...when one that was sitting with it's back to us (on a log) reached around and grabbed poop from it's butt and ate it. He is still talking about it...you can tell we don't have kids! We are amused at the nastiest things!

Well That is my update and hope you had a better week than me! Hope this next one is better!

Odd stuff to update on...

I know it's been a while since I have updated! And I am sorry about that. With working, running a house and trying to have a baby...my life seems really busy.

January flew by so fast here! I did get to spend time with Samantha when she was here. She came for business and stayed to spend time with me. That week seemed to be going great! Sam flew in on Tuesday and we had dinner. The next day I got really sick and FAST...by 3pm I could hardly swallow and couldn't get warm (which sucks when it's 80 degrees outside). I had to call Don (because we still share a car and he had it that day) and take me to a walk in clinic. I got strep throat (which is no surpise to anyone that really knows me because I get it all the time), but sucked because Samantha was going to stay a couple nights here and I didn't want to get her sick. So I called work and my "boss" told me that I was NOT welcomed back until Monday. So I slept for a couple days and started to feel much better by Friday when we got to pick Samantha up. I tried so very hard to be a good hostess, but I think I could have done better if I was feeling better. Friday night we took her out to eat and then to a movie. But Saturday I thought we would go to the Farmers Market in St. Pete (which Sam and I love to go to) picked up a few things for dinner, and then headed to the Kumquat Festival. I think I would have been just fine at the festival except it started to rain (a very cold rain) on us so I was done with it. I cooked her dinner and we watched some movies. I know not real exciting (Samantha--I am sorry...I'll do better next time), but when you are fighting a 102 temp...you just go with it!

But lately I have been just working and trying to get my strenght back from being so sick. It's almost been a month but somedays I feel so beat-up! Nothing real exciting has really happened with us lately! Today we went to the state fair so I'll try to update on that soon! I have a few pictures for you below...a couple from when we went up north for Stephen and Jennifer's wedding and one is Sam at the Kumquat festival. Enjoy and I promise to update better--very soon!

How to Get Ready for a nice Wedding

The End of 2007

Time has gone so fast since Thanksgiving. Don and I got to go to Indiana for Stephen and Jennifer's wedding...which was amazing! Not only was the ceremony beautiful, and lots of family got to be there, but the snow was amazing too. Although if it would have waited to snow until the middle of the ceremony more of the family could have been together. A week is never long enough to see everyone (we missed seeing Marcus, Jackie, and Zach, and Kris and Christina). I didn't take pictures when we were in Indiana which makes me made...but I do have some pictures to share on how Don got ready for the wedding. (I'll try to post those tonight!)

After we got back from "the wedding"...I called CosmoProf (a retail store that sales to salons and licensed people) about my job. I started working on December 10th and let's just say I totally love being an at home wife (just wish I had kids to be with)...so getting back into the swing of things sucked! Don and I have one car...and Evie has a car so we are always trying to figure out who drops who off and picks up. Right now I'm hourly so it's okay...but once my store opens and I move to Management I'm not sure what is going to happen. But we shall see...but for the most part I like my job. I love working with the products and selling them...which isn't that hard for some of it...since I have used many of the product lines we sell.

Christmas came and went so fast...I wasn't ready to celebrate Christmas until the Wednesday before...so lots of last minute shopping was happening for me this year. I hate being unprepared...so my goal this next year is to be done Christmas shopping by Dec. 15th. So I am hoping to meet that goal with pride!

Things are stressful...we are going to try again to get pregnant. So hopefully for Christmas we will have a little one to make Christmas special for! If we have to we will go see another specialist in March, but we are hoping that the meds that take me on a roll coaster ride won't be necessary!

Don is still loving his job. He did interview in Indiana while we were there, but he hasn't heard anything back. I know he loves his job but I would love to be closer to my family and friends. I'm not much of a social butterfly it would be nice to be able to see my closest and dearest people. But I know that I can't always have what I want...so I'll just keep my chin up and make him keep applying until I do! (HA HA)

Anyways...I have to go get ready for work...I"ll try to post more later...because we had lots happen in our small community lately!

As I was blogging earlier...I totally forgot about the excitement in our little apartment community. We have posted earlier we have a lake/pond behind our apartment building...well beyond that there are more apartments. On Dec. 14th in the building just across the lake was a double murder. A man went nuts and broke into the apartment of his almost ex-wife and her "partner"...shooting both women, but not hurting the 4 year old in that apartment. Then he shot and killed his 2 kids at his house that he had with the ex, and then went to the tallest bridge and shot himself. So--you never know that you are in a safe place!

Well there isn't more in my life right now. We had a good Christmas...it wasn't being "home" with family but it was still okay. The 4 missionaries came over so we had a good dinner. I am glad for a good husband that lets me do the traditions I want. Which makes it fun for me...he isn't much of a Holiday person (as long as he gets gifts he's okay)...but decorating and all that is me.

Tonight we are staying in and having a small little party...with the 3 of us and the sisters (until 10pm...they have to be home by 10pm) ... so we aren't doing much...just lots of food!

Have a great New Years...may it be fun and safe!

Church Hallween Party 2007

Yesterday was busy with trying to get all things ready for the hallween party. There was a chili and cornbread cook off which we entered (Placing 1st in Chili and 2nd in Cornbread). I also made some hallween brownies and took those (which went really fast). They also had a costume contest and below you can see how our stake president and his wife dressed up. Enjoy the pictures and have a wonderful weekend!

The Move...

I still don't have pictures of the new apartment to post and for that I'm sorry. Today is Thursday and this move is kicking my butt! Everyday I have been packing (or unpacking) boxes (and sometimes both), running up and down stairs to get things ready for the evening shift, and then in the evening we work for 2 hours running up and downstairs. Let me tell you how out of shape I am ( I know that round IS a shape).

My body is bruised and broken and I still have today and tomorrow before the big stuff even gets moved. Hopefull today we will get all the boxes done and then tomorrow it will be just the closets and small electronic to be moved. I think I'm going to unhook the computers today. We have called in help...since we all are just about at our breaking point and I'm afriad to that I'll get strep throat if I don't slow down soon. Don talked to one of our new neighbors and he will be helping us pack up the 3 cars (we are paying him by giving him our grill-which has only been used twice- and the bag and a half of charcoal). (Oh I forgot to tell you that we are borrowing a flower van from the funeral home to get more stuff moved in the evenings.) We also were able to talk the 2 sets of sister missionaries to help at some point this evening. I think they are coming in shifts...one set to pack up and the other to unpack. I think if I can get everyone organized it shouldn't take us too long. Most of the boxes for todays move are light (compared to the first night when we moved all the food storage which were boxes of can goods).

Saturday we have lined up some male missionaries and some men from the ward to help move the big things. We are paying them off with frozen pizzas and root beer floats. I was really lucky when planning what to fix for the moving party...frozen pizzas went on sale 3 for $10 and the buckets of ice cream went on a great sale too. So that sealed the deal for me. I'm using the plasic cups, silverwear, and plates from foodstorage (since the hurricane season is almost over I feel it's okay to use some of those and restock after the first of the year).

Well--Tigger is telling me it's time to start our day. I hope you all have a great weekend...have some fun for us because we aren't going to have any! Good luck to those losing weight...I'm hoping to kick some major butt this week!

The Calm Before the Storm...

Whatever calm it is...which isn't much calm is for the large storm just 2 weeks ahead. Yesterday I went to the beauty supply that I love to shop at (one that only sells to licensed people)...they are opening shops down here like gang fire. So last week I applied and when I was in the shop yesterday I talked with the manager about my application. I now have an interview next week (this is the job that I really, really want) for a managers position. I'm totally excited.

So I'm adding to my plate which is rather full. With another interview, packing, I'm doing a facial class with the young women of our ward, and plotting our move...I'm so dang stressed. The move is going to kill me until we really get started. I can't pack many more boxes because there is NO place for them to go. We are already making paths around the house so we still can move. When we take the keys on the 15th we are going to start moving stuff everyday. I have it figured out if we do that everyday Monday thru Friday and then Saturday all that will have to be moved is all the heavy things (couch, beds, dressers...stuff like that). I think we have set up enough help so that I don't have to figure out how I'm going to carry the couch down the stairs here and up the stairs at the new apartment with out making a trip to the ER. Now the movers just have to be called by my husband who has put it off all this week....even with me reminding him that it needs to be done.

So with my life on a time table for the next month or so I'm stressing out because I'm not seeing how it will be done before my trip to Indiana. I know the only thing I don't have to stress out about is the dogs. Evie isn't coming on the trip to Indiana so she will take care of the dogs...and for that I'm truly grateful. They have had their shots but I wasn't looking forward to looking for a boarding place for a week. Tigger is always hateful after being boarded.

I am sad that I have so much to get done in the next little while that I will miss Jeff and Ronna getting married. I talked to Ronna the other day...and she told me that they had just planned this and will be getting married November 3rd. I'm very excited for them, but I'm very selfishly sad for myself (not being able to be there).
But I loved hearing all her plans for her day. It sounds like it is coming together for them and I'm so happy for that!
